How to use the free video editor

  1. Add one or more local videos to the main track. Drag clips or use the arrow buttons to change their order.
  2. Set in and out points for each clip. Move the playhead and split a selected clip to cut it into two parts.
  3. Add picture-in-picture video or audio. Set its start time, adjust volume, and choose the corner for the picture-in-picture. All layers must fit within the main video.
  4. Choose landscape, portrait or square and an output resolution. Export locally, preview the MP4 and download it.

Timeline editing with three tracks

The free video editor has three tracks: sequential main clips, picture-in-picture videos and audio. It supports trimming, splitting, rearranging clips, setting layer start times and mixing or muting sound. Output uses a fitted frame with black padding rather than cropping. Projects stay in this tab and are lost when you close or reload it. Text, transitions, speed changes and saved projects are not available in this version.

Frequently asked questions

Is this video editor really free?

Yes. Editing and MP4 export require no account or credits and add no watermark. Media stays on your device. The first export downloads about 31 MB of processing software.

Can I edit multiple video and audio tracks?

Yes. Join several clips on the main track, layer picture-in-picture videos and add audio clips. Each layer has its own timing and volume. Picture-in-picture uses 30% of the frame in one of four corners.

Are projects saved automatically?

No. This version keeps the project in the current tab only. Download your MP4 before closing or reloading the page.
